A Tribute to the Life of Michael R. Dages
February 14, 1948 – August 19, 2019

Mike Dages passed away on Monday Aug. 19, after battle with cancer for nearly a year. He was born Feb. 14, 1948, in Daviess County, Indiana, to Carolyn (Kennedy) Dages and the late Ralph Dages. Mike married Margaret “Peggy” (Arvin) on April 17, 1971, and she survives him.

He was a United States Army veteran and served overseas during the Vietnam War. He retired from Crane Army Ammunition Activity in January 2004. Mike enjoyed gardening, yard work and riding his four-wheeler. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church, Shoals American Legion and the Loogootee Veteran of Foreign War. Mike was also followed his father, Ralph, as a longtime member of the Montgomery Ruritan Club. Mike will be remembered for running the Beer Garden at the annual Turkey trot for many years. Mike along with PJ Craney took over the leadership in the Beer Garden and had many successful years.

Mike was a quiet person not wanting the spotlight on himself but he was a valuable person to the Montgomery Ruritan Club. He went about his work always doing a great job and was known as a dependable person the club could count on. He stepped down from his job in the last few years but was still available to help where he could. Mike also received the Ruritan Service Award in 2007 for his service to the Ruritan Club and the Community.

Mike will be missed and we extend our heartfelt sympathy to Mike’s Widow Peggy and his three children and all his family. Mike has gone from us but his memory will always be with us. May he rest in Peace!
