A Tribute to the Life of Max Eaton
May 25, 1929 – May 21, 2019

H. Max Eaton passed away Tuesday, May 21, 2019, at 8:35 p.m. at his home surrounded by family and loved ones. He was born May 25, 1929, to Charles Edgar and Mary Elizabeth (Webber) Eaton in Plainville, Indiana. He graduated from Plainville High School in 1947.

He married the love of his life, Jodi Bateman, on April 23, 1949, and they celebrated 70 years together. Max was a farmer for several years and retired in 1993 from Eaton’s Farm Service in Montgomery, Indiana. He was a member of Bethany Christian Church, Montgomery Ruritan Club, and had previously worked on the hospital board for eight years. Max was an avid Chicago Cubs fan. He always rooted for the Cubs and anyone that played the St. Louis Cardinals! Nothing made him as happy as when the Cubs won the World Series!

He is survived by his wife, Jodi (Batemen) Eaton; daughters Vicki (Paul) Bertges of Ellenton, Florida, and Pam (Dan) McAtee of Washington; daughter-in-law, Judy Eaton, also of Washington; brother Darrell Eaton of Montgomery; sister Olive Lawyer of Plainville; grandchildren Eric Faith, Rhonda Parsons, Alicia Jones, Christine Cook, Brian McAtee, Chad McAtee, Taj Eaton, Jill Newlin, Kenna Bradley and Daulton Eaton; 24 greatgrandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Mary Eaton; two sons, Kenneth and Michael Eaton; and brothers Norman, Bill and Gene Eaton.

Visitation will be held Tuesday May 28, 2019, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. and on Wednesday from 10 a.m. till time of service, all at Bethany Christian Church. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 29, 2019, at Bethany Christian Church. Burial will be at Bethany Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Bethany Christian Church. The family has entrusted arrangements to Ed Lee Mortuary.
