Ruritan Remembers Robert “Bob” Showalter

The Montgomery Ruritan Club remembers the passing of Bob Showalter who was a member of
the Ruritan Club since the early days of the club. No, he was not one of the founding members
but he served as President of the Montgomery Ruritan Club in 1968 just 7 years after the club
was founded in 1961. He also served as Turkey Trot Chairman in 1985 and during the years
Turkey Trot Book was published Bob helped to sell a large amount of ads for the book each
year. He was an individual that did much work for the club and helped out in whatever way he
could.

Like a lot of families in the community Bob’s two sons Tony and Tim followed in his footsteps
by serving as Club President and Tony also served as Turkey Trot Chairman. All severed in
leadership positions in the club which helped to make it what it is today.

Bob Showalter passed away on Tuesday May 31, 2022 after a short illness. He will be missed in
the club. We extend our deepest sympathies to his Wife Sue, sons Tony and Tim, Daughters
Lisa, Cindy, Anita all the family.
