Jack Craney, former Ruritan President and Board Member of the Montgomery Ruritan Club passed away suddenly on Sunday July 13 at his home. Jack was a dedicated Member of the Club and made major contributions to the Club and to his community

Jack served as President of the Club in 1979 and also served on the Board of Directors. He served in various capacities as a club member and was Co-Chairman of the Turkey Trot Turkey Trot Festival in 1988 and worked many events for the Club. He was awarded the Club’s Service Award in 1983. He was truly a dedicated member of the club and worked on various projects for the Club. He also served on the Barr-Reeve School Board for 16 years from 1974 to 1990. Jack was also very active in St. Peter’s Catholic Church and the St. Vincent DePaul Society. Jack’s son PJ also served as President, Board Member and Turkey Trot Chairman following in his Father’s footsteps. Jack was also a retired Mail Carrier and Farmer. Jack will be missed by his Family and the Community and of course his many friends that paid their final respects while he was laid to rest. We offer our condolences to his Wife Maggie (Married for 61 Years) and his five sons, John, Tony, PJ, Chris and Mike and his three daughters, Susie, Mary and Theresa and all Jack’s Family. The Montgomery Ruritan Club is truly grateful to Jack for all his efforts over the many years he served. He will always be remembered and will truly be missed. May God Grant Him His Eternal Reward.
