Shown above is the Montgomery Turkey Trot Mud Volleyball Championship Team on Saturday. Members of the team are, front row (L-R) Libby Graber, Allison Hart, and Liz Reed, and back row, (L-R) Rich Yoder, Logan Graber, Isaac Stoll, Matt Hart, and Chad Niehaus. The Mudders won the championship over 19 other teams.

Pictured above are the winners at the Montgomery Turkey Trot Demo, (L-R) demo co-chairman, Vaughn Graber; first place winner Chad Stoll; third place winner, Ryan Decker; Leo Barley Jr. track assistant; and Jason Swartzentruber, second place winner. TimShowalter, demo co-chairman was not available for picture. The winner of the mini heat at the demo was DanWoodall.

Shown above is the winning team in the 7-10 year class as they captured the pig and put him on the tire in the pig wrestling match. This team won in a near record time of 12 seconds. Team members were Kara Hughes, Alexis Traylor, Annie Graber and Alyssa Knepp, who are all students at Barr-Reeve. Shown above on the left in the middle of the mud pit along with the pig wrestlers, is Larry Wicher, the official who has run the pig wrestling since it began at the Montgomery Turkey Trot. This event has become another crowd favorite on Sunday afternoon.

Pictured on the right is Lee Kavanaugh as he gives final instructions to the jockeys as they line up for one of the first turkey races on Thursday night at the Montgomery Turkey Trot. Before each race the jockeys are given instructions on what they should and should not do as they move the birds down the track. Lee Kavanaugh, who has also served as president of theMontgomery Ruritan Club, took over the duties of managing the turkeys on the track for all the races at theMontgomery Turkey Trot. Five birds race in each race until all but one bird is eliminated. About 70 kids try their luck each year to be the championship turkey racer. This year it was 5th grader Trevor Lengacher as he raced through the first races and the semi-finals and then finally the championship race.

Pictured on the right is Trevor Lengacher, a student at Barr-Reeve, who was the championship winner of the turkey races held at the 2009 Turkey Trot. Trevor won the race with a time of 12 seconds and was just a split second ahead of the second and third place winners. Presenting the championship trophy is Dewayne Shake, chairman of the 2009 Montgomery Turkey Trot.

Shown above are the 2009 Montgomery Ruritan Service Award winners who were presented their awards just prior to the Saturday night show on the main stage at the Montgomery Turkey Trot. Shown on the left is Vaughn Graber and at right is Tim Showalter. Making the presentation is Dewayne Shake, Turkey Trot chairman. Graber and Showalter have been involved with the Turkey Trot for many years and have been chairmen of all the events held on the track.

Shown above is a shot of the large crowd just minutes before the opening of the show on Saturday night before the Sammy Kershaw Show on Saturday Night at the Turkey Trot on Sept. 12, 2009. The crowd was one of the largest in the history of the Turkey Trot.
