2025 – Wire Class Rules
Breckinridge County Fair – Elnora, IN – Turkey Trot
1. Any year Full size rear wheel drive Sedan or Wagon. No pre 73 Lincoln or Chryslers. Car must be striped clean.
2. Any motor & trans in any car, motor must be mounted in stock location, no metal added
3. Factory cross member must be used; you may move cross member to accommodate transmission no more than 4 in’ of weld on mounting tabs
4. You may wire or chain transmissions mount (DO NOT GET CREATIVE this is to hold trans to cross member only)
5. You may use #9 wire to hold motor in must be to an existing bolt at the a-arm no more than 3 strands of wire
6. You may use shifter of choice, but it cannot be used to strengthen the car in any way
7. A 4 bar cage is allowed no more than 6″ the cage will consist of dash bar,2 door bars and a rear seat bar, seat bar cannot be further than 6″ past B pillar, all cage components must be mounted at least 6″ off floorboards.
8. You’re allowed to weld a plate from the bottom of the door bar to the bottom of door seal, you cannot beat door seal down to frame. Front doors only ¼” max thickness
9. If you choose not to run a 4-bar cage you must have a back seat bar
10. You may have a roll over bar max. size 6″ must be mounted to back seat bar or door bars no mounting to floorboards must be straight up and down
11. You may weld driver’s door 6 on 6 off with 3×6 plates no thicker than ¼
12. The driver’s door is the only door that can be welded. All other doors must be wired or chained in 10 spots max 3 strands of #9 wire or 3/8 chain
13. If you choose not to weld the driver’s door you must have a door plate mounted on outer skin. This plate must be at least 6″ wide and no more than 4” overlap on fender and rear door
14. Factory gas tank must be removed and either a fuel cell or boat tank must be mounted in back seat area, tank must be mounted securely if I can move it, you will not run until its fixed, fuel line must be ran inside of car, absolutely no gas tank protectors.
15. Gas tank holders / protectors can consist of an enclosure around the tank, but it must be 4 inches from the back seat / speaker panel. Its there to protect the gas tank NOT TO STRENGTHEN THE CAR!!
16. Battery must be moved to passenger compartment and mounted securely, cannot strengthen car in anyway
17. Aftermarket steering columns may be used. Cannot strengthen cars in anyway.
18. Core support bolts may be replaced with 1inch all thread going through the hood and you can have a 3-inch wide by 3-inch-tall spacer, no welding of spacer, all other. Factory body bolts must remain in place, no changing body bolts if broke 2 strands #9 wire max
19. All suspension must remain factory, OEM parts only
20. OEM rear ends only 5 lug no rear end braces, you may weld spider gears,9-inch ford rear ends are ok. You may swap rear ends from make, example (ford to gm etc. etc.) You may change axels and gears
21. Any factory OEM bumper is allowed & can be loaded on inside of bumper. You may weld bumpers to shocks, you may also collapse shocks and the weld shock tube halfway around the tube shock must be mounted in factory bolt location. You may hardnose the bumper but if you do you lose the shock. Factory core support mounting tab must remain in stock location
22. Maximum bumper height to bottom of bumpers 20″ car must bounce with ease front and rear
23. Radiator must be mounted in factory location. You may have a radiator protector built in this manner ONLY, 3 ½ x 3 ½ x ¼ thick angle around the outside of radiator. You may either have wire mesh or a 3/16 guard welded on front side of protector enclosure, add 6 2×2 flat mounting plates with no bigger than ½ bolt to mount protector. If running radiator protector, you must have a factory condenser wired in 4 locations outside of radiator support. **Anything outside of these guidelines you lose the protector.
24. Front windshield bar 2-inch max must run vertically and may have one bar joining the two.
25. Hoods may be secured in 6 spots with #9 wire 3 strands max. you may also run an additional two spots in front thru hood/core support to front bumper
26. Trunk may be secured in 8 spots with #9 wire 3 stands max. with an additional two spots to rear bumper 3 strands max
27. You may notch or dimple rear frame rails, no pre-bending allowed
28. Absolutely NO BODY CREASING ALLOWED!
29. Slider shafts allowed
30. NO CRADLES
31. NO TRANSMISSION BRACES
32. NO DISTRIBUTOR PROTECTORS
33. NO PATCHING OF RUST
34. 03 and newer Fords may use the ¼” thick cradle to mount a Chevy motor in the aluminum cradle but must use factory claims and motor mounts. IF YOU DO ANYTHING EXCESSIVELY TO REINFORCE THE CRADLE YOU WILL NOT RUN!! CALL WITH QUESTIONS FIRST!! All suspension must be stock or OEM replacement nothing added above or below the struts for height spring spacers only.
35. This is a stock class with the intention of a quick build. No wire, cables or anything else from cage to frame.
